The Theodore Roosevelt Association Continues its Support of the NYPD’s OPTIONS Youth Program
June 24, 2026
On June 4th, the Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA) continued its partnership with the New York City Police Foundation and the NYPD OPTIONS youth program as Executive Director Chris Cosentino returned to engage directly with OPTIONS members and leadership, sharing the enduring lessons of Theodore Roosevelt’s life and leadership.
During the visit, Cosentino presented an interactive discussion focused on TR’s remarkable journey—from a young boy overcoming personal challenges to becoming President of the United States, conservation champion, reformer, and advocate for civic responsibility. The presentation highlighted the values that defined Thedore Roosevelt’s life, including courage, perseverance, service, leadership, and his famous call to “Dare Mighty Things.”
“Theodore Roosevelt believed that every individual has the power to make a difference through character, hard work, and a commitment to serving others,” said Chris Cosentino, Executive Director of the Theodore Roosevelt Association. “The young people participating in the OPTIONS Program are developing the very qualities Theodore Roosevelt championed throughout his life. It was inspiring to meet with these future leaders and discuss how they can apply TR’s values to their own lives, communities, and aspirations.”
The session encouraged participants to reflect on the challenges facing their generation and consider how leadership begins with personal responsibility, resilience, and a willingness to step forward when others need support. Through open discussion and questions from attendees, members explored how Theodore Roosevelt’s principles remain relevant in today’s world and can help guide decision-making both personally and professionally.
The Theodore Roosevelt Association is proud to support programs that empower young people to develop confidence, character, and leadership skills. The NYPD OPTIONS Program continues to provide invaluable opportunities for youth development through mentorship, education, and meaningful engagement with law enforcement professionals.
By connecting Theodore Roosevelt’s legacy to the experiences and ambitions of today’s youth, the June 4th visit reinforced a shared commitment to building stronger communities and preparing the next generation to lead with integrity, purpose, and courage.
