Theodore Roosevelt Association and Nassau County Lions Partner for 2026 Big Stick Golf Outing

OYSTER BAY, NY — The Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA) and the Nassau County Lions are proud to announce a new partnership for the inaugural Big Stick Golf Outing, taking place Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course. This signature event celebrates Theodore Roosevelt’s enduring legacy of grit, service, and leadership—values central to the missions of both organizations.

“Theodore Roosevelt believed that participation in youth and amateur sports built not just physical strength, but character and courage,” said Chris Cosentino, Executive Director of the Theodore Roosevelt Association and coach with the Nassau County Lions. “This partnership is especially meaningful to me because it brings together two organizations committed to fostering leadership, integrity, and perseverance in young people. Together, we’re continuing Theodore Roosevelt’s belief that real strength—of body, mind, and spirit—is earned through effort and fair play.”

This year’s collaboration is especially fitting as the Nassau County Lions Youth Hockey Program celebrates its 60th anniversary of service to the Long Island community. For six decades, the Lions have promoted teamwork, resilience, and community spirit through youth athletics—principles closely aligned with Theodore Roosevelt’s philosophy of the strenuous life.

The partnership also pays tribute to Theodore Roosevelt’s lifelong support for youth and amateur athletics as a means of developing sportsmanship, discipline, and civic responsibility. It further reflects one of Roosevelt’s most spirited nicknames—“the Old Lion”—symbolizing his belief that moral and physical vigor are forged through action and perseverance.

Attendees of the Big Stick Golf Outing will experience a full day of TR-themed fun—each hole celebrating Theodore Roosevelt’s bold spirit and adventurous legacy. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner, refreshing beverages throughout the day, exciting raffles, auctions, awards, special guests and plenty of surprises. Sponsorship opportunities are available, with all proceeds benefiting Theodore Roosevelt Association programs supporting military, police, youth, and scholarship initiatives, as well as the Nassau County Lions.
