Roosevelt, often called the “Father of the Modern Navy,” transformed America into a global maritime power. As Assistant Secretary of the Navy, he pushed for increased readiness, more capable ships, and vigorous training. As President, the Great White Fleet circled the globe—a breathtaking demonstration of strength, diplomacy, and America’s commitment to peace through preparedness. His vision endures today in every sailor who serves aboard the aircraft carrier that proudly bears his name: USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71).
