Panorama Room / Sheraton Hotel
The weekend will kick off with brunch on Friday high up at the Sheraton Hotel’s Panorama Room with its beautiful views of the city. This will be followed by the “Rolling Chautauqua Tour” where you will spend the afternoon covering TR’s footsteps on his visit to Indianapolis on Memorial Day 1907. You won’t want to miss this! Come early and join us on Thursday evening at our host hotel the Columbia Club where you can pick up your registration packet for the weekend and meet up with TRA members and friends before heading out to dinner. The Columbia Club will be our host hotel and venue for the Symposium. The overall theme of the speaker panels is “Theodore Roosevelt and Democracy” although it will be about much more. On Saturday morning leading scholars will discuss emerging research on Theodore Roosevelt. The session will be moderated by the TRA’s Public Historian and will demonstrate there is still much to learn about TR. The Indiana Historical Society is graciously hosting our group for an afternoon visit with a speaker who will recall in detail TR’s emergency surgery on an injury suffered a few weeks prior in the famous Massachusetts horse carriage accident.
