Inauguration of the 26th President. . .

Theodore Roosevelt was a man of many "firsts". When he was inaurgurated at the Wilcox Mansion in September of 1901, after the death of President McKinley, he became the first to be sworn-in at a place that was not, and never had been the capitol. At his swearing in cermony, TR became the youngest person to ever be the US President.

The Wilcox Mansion is now a National Historic Site.
