from TRA President Lawrence Budner.

Former President George
Bush received a special treat this Halloween, as the Theodore
Roosevelt Association presented George and Barbara Bush
the Distinguished Sevice Award, the organizations highest honor.
Illness prevented Mrs. Bush from attending the festivities, but
the former President delighted the audience of over 400 with his
acceptance speeches. The ceremony took place in San Antonio Texas,
were the Rough Riders met to train 100 years ago before serving

| Earlier in the weekend,
author H.W. Brands spoke to the conference gathering during dinner
on the grounds of The Alamo. Special guests for the evening were
the Daughters of the Republic who operate the facility. Friday,
