MEDAL OF HONOR WELCOME CELEBRATION:
Wine & Cheese Reception on Sunday, April 1, 2001 for the Public
Premiere of the Medal of Honor, featuring speakerTweed Roosevelt.
Mr. Tweed Roosevelt will personally deliver Theodore Roosevelt's
Medal of Honor and regale us with the exceptional story of the
quest for this award 103 years after the battles in Cuba. This
special reception is limited to 100 persons and Tweed's lectures
are legendary so rsvp quickly. Consider showing your support for
the "Friends" by taking an ad in our 5th Annual Journal
for The Friends of Sagamore Hill. Your support will be most appreciated.
This is a major fund-raising effort for the year. $60.00 per person.

MEDAL OF HONOR ON DISPLAY
AT SAGAMORE HILL:
President Clinton posthumously awarded Theodore Roosevelt the Medal
of Honor on January 16, 2001 at the White House. Eventually the
Roosevelt Family will be donating the Medal back to the White House
to permanently reside in the Roosevelt Room, on the mantel near
TR's Nobel Peace Prize. They have agreed to loan the Medal to Sagamore
Hill NHS for public viewing during much of the month of April. |

Police Awards Program for Nassau
and Suffolk Counties
The Annual Theodore Roosevelt Association Police Awards Program
at Sagamore Hill:
The Friends of Sagamore Hill honor one police officer from Nassau
County, and one from Suffolk County. This prestigious award is
in keeping with the outstanding leadership demonstrated by TR
in overcoming his personal physical obstacles, and in recognition
of his service as President of the New York City Board of Police
Commissioners.

Our Annual Meeting will be held at Old Orchard Museum at Sagamore
Hill National Historic Site. Please consider our invitation to
join us in membership in The Friends of Sagamore Hill!

NYS GRANT FOR LECTURES:
Through the efforts of Assemblywoman Donna Ferrara, we have been
awarded a $2,000 grant from New York State. Plans are to use the
monies to sponsor a series of spring, 2001 lectures about issues
relevant to the life and times of Theodore Roosevelt. These will
be free, and open to the general public. |
