At least three TRA members Richard Boera, Stephen Jeffries (with TRA Executive Director John Gable) and Jim Summerville share a birth date with Theodore Roosevelt.
Happy Birthday all!

In honor of Theodore Roosevelt's 142nd birthday, the Theodore Roosevelt Association presents a fine recreation of the dinner held at the Fifth Avenue Hotel in New York on October 26, 1900.

The menu - Bluepoint Oysters; Green Turtle, Clear; Timbale of Peanut Ham; Crab Flake a la Newburg; Filet of Beef, Dickinson; Fresh Mushrooms Sous Cloche, Roman Punch, Quail Bread Sauce; Cakes - Confectionary - Fruits; Biscotti; and Coffee - accompanied by appropriate wines gave a glimpse into a slice of life at the turn of the last century.

The current birthday dinner also commemorates the centennial of TR's term as Governor of New York. Before Theodore's next birthday, politics and fate would bring him to the Vice Presidency and ultimately the Presidency. TR remains the youngest person ever to hold the office of President.

The ever delightful and witty Commissioner of the NY State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Bernadette Castro presented the Saturday evening keynote address.

Efficient, resourceful, inspiring. On behalf of the TRA, Admiral Parcells [the first commander of USS TR] presented the Jr. Officer of the Year award.

The TRA reaffirms our relationship as a support organization for the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) with a gift of an enormous Bull Moose to decorate the hangar deck of the ship.
