The USS Theodore Roosevelt

USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) is the fourth NIMITZ-class aircarft carrier.  It is a tribute to TR's naval legacy.  Her history began on Sept. 30, 1980, when a contract was awarded to Newport News Shipbuilding. She is now steaming to sea for in service deployment.

Theodore Roosevelt Association

Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA) was founded in 1919 and chartered by Congress in 1920 to preserve the memory and ideals of the 26th President of the United States. This prestigious organization is our sponsor and is involved in a range of community activities related to TR and his legacy.

Police Awards - June 9, 2003

Each summer the Theodore Roosevelt Association and Friends of Sagamore Hill honor select members of the police force of Nassau and Suffolk counties for having overcome adversity and demonstrated marked leadership. TOvercoming adversity to lead is the tradition of Theodore Roosevelt, and these fine officers are a tribute to their organizations, their families, and to TR's memory.  The ceremony is open to the public at 12 noon on June 8, 2002.

UPDATED
The Ninth Annual Theodore Roosevelt Police Awards honored Police Officer William R. Fairchild of Suffolk County, who while on duty suffered traumatic injury in an auto accident with a drunk driver, has served as an inspiration to his colleagues through his personal triumph, return to the duties of the force and dedication to his family and community.  Police Officer Theresa Cronin of Nassau County suffered from increasing ailments from a condition that went un, or misdiagnosed for too long.  Her best friend, a recent medical school graduate, persevered in researching and diagnosing her symptoms, leading to a proper diagnosis and treatment.  Theresa's supervisors and colleagues were astounded by her dedication to her work throughout the ordeal, as she successful confronted and overcame her illness.

We are honored that The Long Island Commercial Bank was a major sponsor of this important community event, and President and CEO Douglas C. Manditch paid tribute to the officers, their dedication, and the community that he and the Bank serve. PHOTOGRAPHS
